ok,,,i recently made a change to my art production set up...that is to say that i went from drawing my art on my sony xperia with my finger, to a wacom tablet and a pc...this is what i learned;
- although sketchbook is awesome on my tablet with my finger, it is just as awesome on pc and wacom. BUT its not any better, which i was hoping for...
- photoshop seems to suck compared to manga studio...but i had to explore both which took ages, and is still taking ages now.
- manga studio is awesome, but my pc isnt.
- drawing a complex 'many tens of layers' thick picture at 1200dpi, on the biggest canvas size MS can do with vectors and raster layers all with filters on and then ploughing on for a full month editing a ten gigabyte plus file, with THIS particular machine will result in 24hr load times, which affects productivity somewhat...even after upgrading ram to the max, and new gpu added to boot, this is like swimming in molasses.
i managed to make a study of a lot of different techniques, spent some time getting used to the wacom,,,,its getting easier but was weird at first.
after several weeks of trying, i managed to create a pic i could no longer work on....i will upload it regardless - i spent a full week merging the layers in the wrong order just to complete the 'pigs ear' effect lol but eventually was able to create a 15% size version as a bitmap, with heavily reduced quality...so i will post that shortly....
today i did a little manga self portrait, mucking about and having fun with the wacom and manga studio....my pc is just starting to have stuck moments with this one too, so i suppose this must be about the maximum i can produce easily on this machine....will post this up too....for the lols
